As a busy mom of 20 month old boy and a 4 ½ year old girl I sometimes wonder where my day goes. Some people have asked how do find times for work? Just this past weekend, I spent 15 minutes for business follow ups contacting clients with specials for the month and whose accounts were ready to expire, and made over $200 in business. One person tripled their monthly order and another ordered over $200 in product to not have their account expire.

Active children and a husband that works swing shifts make work a challenge, whether it is making dinner, laundry, tripping over toys, craft time, home schooling, gardening, and yard work. Also, we are involved in the church. So where in all that does one fine time to do a home business? This past weekend it took 15 minutes on my computer while my kids were watching a movie and snack time Sunday afternoon.

Why do I share this story with you? Because I know you know someone right now whose HEALTH is being affected by financial burdens, loss of job, lack of work, credit card debt, or a pending lay off. Seven years ago I made the decision to get involved “in one of those home businesses” and it was the best decision my family has made.

Today’s topic is about a home business and how to know if a home business is right for you.

It’s my hope that you will share this with one of your friends who needs this message. I really was inspired by this information and wanted to share with all of you.

Sincerely,

Mary Simmons

Wellness Coach & Mom

Better Living Essentials ~ Making Better Choices for Life

Don’t wait for the Lottery to change your life. Think about starting a home business.

“The stewardess on the plane was an amazing woman with many talents. She was originally from the Philippians and moved to this country had several degrees and different careers during her life. She loved people and just had a caring heart. Her husband and she recently adopted a Philippian baby girl and he was living in the Philippians with their daughter and she was flying the skies. They had a home in Texas too and I didn’t ask but I just felt that her heart was with her family. Maybe her husband could not get citizenship, maybe there were legalities of leaving the country with their baby, maybe they had more help from their family there I don’t know. But I just knew that although she was a phenomenal stewardess and seemed to love her job, if money didn’t matter she would probably be with her family creatively making money another way.

I was checking out at the grocery store and I heard the two clerks talking about the upcoming BIG Lotto drawing. The one cashier said if I win I am paying off my school loans and paying cash for Law School. The other cashier said… “I don’t know what I would do…. Maybe build a new house, but I really could have any house I wanted.” I asked, “Are you all talking about winning the Lottery? They said yes . And then I proceed to question them. Sue the one cashier in her late 40’s tells me that really she doesn’t want to win the lottery she just wants to BE COMFORTABLE. Be able to pay all her bills. Get away for the winter where it is warm. And be able to take weekends and holidays off and not be stuck working the upcoming Easter Sunday Holiday like she is this year.

My heart hurts for both the stewardess and the cashier, not because of the situations they are in but because they don’t see a way out of their situation. BUT I DO. (story from a friend)

It’s called a Home Based Business and simply it’s a small business that you can run from your home or from your smart phone and I-Pad anywhere in the world. In 2003 I was introduced to the concept and in 2004 I started getting serious and partnered with Young Living Essential oils to distribute and market their products all over the world. Today myself and 20 other associates in our team work 2-20 hours a week sharing, teaching and marketing about Young Living products to more than 2500 people all over the world.”

What’s the earning potential on that? COMFORTABLE. It allowed for comfort when I quit my job in 2006 to start a family and be able to stay at home to raise our kids. It allows for us to create jobs. So if you think you want a little comfort in your life, or you want to be able to work from home, or you want to just have enough money to do a few extra things this summer watch this message.

How do you know if a Home Business is right for you?

1 You have to have a strong desire for change.

This is a commitment and unless you have a strong WHY you are doing it then you could quit when times get tough. Don’t start a home business unless you have a strong why.

2 You have the capital to invest – Company & Training

This is a business and it will require an investment. Most home businesses initial investment range from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand, which is a much smaller investment than starting your own restaurant or store front business. In addition, you will need monthly capital for training, products, and marketing expenses.

3 You have time – 18 months of 5-10 hours a week minimum

A true lasting business will require consistent work weekly (5-10 hrs. minimum 10-20 hrs. maximum) for no less than 18 months. You may see results before this but to created lasting residual income give yourself a time commitment of 18 -24 months. (I also recommend not working more than 20 hrs. a week consistently or you will end up in burn out)

4 You are teachable and willing to learn new things

Even if you have a background in sales and business make sure you keep a teachable mind and heart. In this industry you must constantly learn new things. You will need to learn to communicate in new ways like through social media, email, video, etc.

5 Self-motivated hold yourself accountable

Unlike a job, a home business doesn’t have anyone telling you to work or not. No one will fire you if you don’t show up for 2 weeks, but you won’t see the results. Self-motivation will pay you huge profits!

6 You have a product that is consumable or gets used up

A consumable type product based home business creates for re-orders and loyal clients. This is the foundation of any good and long term home based business. This creates an income that is residual, meaning you get paid every month because they client re-orders every month.

7 You have some passion or excitement for what you are doing

Don’t try to start something you don’t have any excitement for. Passion will fuel your profits.

8 You are okay making mistakes

Every business owner makes mistakes. Don’t be afraid to. It’s not about perfection it’s about results.

9 You’ve come to an agreement with your spouse children about your business

This is very, very, very, important to do. Have a serious talk with your family. Let your spouse or significant person in your life learn how you did about your business. Decide together when you will work your business and how you will. Example: (Wednesday night’s mommy is not home, Every Tuesday Thursday Daddy works on his home business from 5:00-7:30)

10 You have to willing to work harder on you than anything else. Personal development.

It may sound strange but if you have ever watched seasons of the Biggest Loser you will see the most successful individuals in lasting weight loss work harder on their own issues and improving themselves than anyone else. It’s the same in this industry. The long lasting top earners are the ones who have worked harder on themselves, their people skills, issues, challenges, and STUFF.

So what do you think? Do you think owning a home business is right for you? If you are serious and ready to take the next step this month we are interviewing for Associate Home Business owners with our company. Call our office to set up a pre-screening interview to see if what we have might be a match for what you are looking for and if your skills, goals and talents are a match for us. Call Better Living Essential office at (888) 873-0736 and an associate will get back to you in a timely manner.

But what if your bra was harming your health, would you forsake it?

Syndy Ross Singer & Soma Grismaijer are two researchers bold enough to study the effects of bras on women’s health and wrote a book on it, Dressed to Kill; The link Between Breast Cancer and Bras and their follow up book, Get it Off! Understanding The Cause of … Breast Pain, Cysts and Cancer, despite threats with a lawsuit by the Intimate Apparel Council (trade association in the US for the multi-billion dollar bra industry). Singer & Grismaijer found it interesting that the cancer industry has never looked at bras and breast constriction as a possible cause of breast cancer. They concluded that with a medical industry that earns $10,000,000,000 annually on treatments for breast cancer, getting rid of bras would cost the medical industry billions.

Surrounding our breasts is the greatest number of lymph vessels and nodes. When the breast region is constricted by a bra, the lymph system cannot flow freely. This causes a buildup of fluid, less effective feeding and cleansing of the tissue, an increase in accumulated toxins and restriction of lymphocytes which destroy abnormal cells. In addition, the petrochemicals in bra materials can leach out of the fabric and into the skin, causing loss of breast skin color and dermatitis. Dr. Irmgard Keeler-Howard of Houghton College states that chemicals that comprise elastic may be cancer causing.

Consider Singer & Grismaijer’s findings:

o Women wearing bras 24 hours per day were 125 times more likely (3 out of 4 chance) to developing breast cancer

o Women wearing bras more than 12 hours per day, but not to bed, had a 1 out of 7 risk

o Women wearing bras less than 12 hours per day had a 1 out of 152 risk

o Women who rarely or never wore bras had a 1 out of 168 change of breast cancer

o Wearing a bra at least 14 hours a day tends to increase the hormone prolactin, which decreases circulation to the breast tissue.

o Professional women have higher than average BC incidence rates than rural women who wear their bras less often

o 80% of bra wearers who experience lumps, cysts, and tenderness saw their symptoms vanish, within a month of getting rid of their bra

o In 1997 Singer compared a group of women in Fiji – half of the women wore bras and the other half went without. The diet, environment and lifestyle of both groups were the same. Those who wore bras had the same rate of breast cancer as women in the US. Those who went braless experienced practically no breast cancer.

Bras are not the first item of clothing to be called on the carpet for potential health issues. Over the centuries, various items of clothing which chronically constricted a region of the body have come under fire.

Asian cultures bound women’s feet in the name of fashion, creating irreversible deformed and dysfunctional feet. Tightly laced corsets from the 1700-1900’s contributed to an enlarged left heart ventricle as well as congestion of the brain, liver and kidneys. Neckties have been linked with reduced blood circulation to the brain, shoes causing corns; Tight Pants Syndrome may be the cause of unexplained stomach cramps, and chest pain and heartburn.

In addition, tight belts restricting lymphatic flow to the groin region may be linked with increases in colon cancer. This, incidentally, occurs most frequently below the belt region in the sigmoid colon and rectum. Also, men’s tight briefs reducing sperm count, and repeated trauma from eye glasses have been linked with skin cancer on the bridge of the nose. I think you are getting the idea, constrictive clothing may not be the direct cause of our health issues but it certainly creates an environment conducive to ill health.

It’s time we consider health over fashion and demand new fashion trends featuring healthy breasts… au natural! Enhance lymph flow with gentle lymph massage, moving them from the nipple outwards, mostly toward the armpit. Stimulate lymph flow by dry brushing, rebounding on a mini trampoline or bouncing on a gym ball while moving the arms. If you must wear a bra, consider bras made from natural fabrics and avoid padded, push-up, sports, strapless, underwire and tight/ill fitting bras which contribute to breast compression as well as bras resembling body armor which may heat up breasts to unnatural temperatures.

Dr. Pamela Howard, DC, Certified Clinical Thermographer; founded Advanced Thermal Imaging in 2005 to provide a safe, non-invasive means of detecting health concerns utilizing Thermography throughout Central PA & Upstate NY. I still hear words that were spoken over me…not once…but for years. Why would I not believe them they loved me right? and they knew me better than anyone, even myself. Cause how I could I know who I was as a kid growing up – I was being told who I was before I had permission to deny the words that were coming at me.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am not angry at the ones that spoke those words. I understand now they were trying to deal with their own mess in their journey …some of it just spilled out on my road and I stepped in the toxic waste. It stuck to my feet for many years because I did not know I could just wipe it off and be done with it. Instead…I carried it…into everything I did for the next 29 years.

I grew up in church where when someone asks for prayer it became the gossip of the church. Instead praying for guidance or healing of a situation it was judged. As I grew up I saw fewer people kneeling in public. It made me hold back from asking, not wanting to be the center of church attention. I just held it in – since those were church people and knew God – I sure did not want to ask God to help me because…well his opinion scared me.

I knew the bible had all the answers for my life and it said “You reap what you sow” and I had sowed some pretty bad seeds…so I figured I was getting what I deserved, and I needed to suck it up.

At the tender age of 16 I knew it all. I got married and moved to another country….not another state. I lived in a duplex that had rats the size of cats that lived in the garage (I am not kidding).

I did not lay eyes on another family member for two and half years. My mother came to visit once for 30 days after the first year. My youngest friend back then was 30 years old. I hung out with people who were past the silly thoughts I was having at 16 – so I tried to be like them. Grown up – drinking and partying to fit in. I hung with the best of them. I got in two fist fights, one with military women and almost got deported from the country – punched a man in the face when he put his drunken hands on me – then told his wife.

I never felt like I fit in. I wanted to be more than broke, and broke is what I was. Since I had never bought groceries for myself much less a house hold – I had no idea how to look for bargains and make the best of having little. I was allowed to spent $80 on household and food every 2 weeks. Most of the time my refrigerator had crackers and peanut butter. I ate the left-overs at the day care center I was working for, I only worked 15 hours a week. The other 153 hours a week I got hungry often. I was thin, very thin.

At 18 – I lived in the south, in house that had cock-roaches, (I hate those things) around more strangers trying to find my way. Everything stopped but yet it felt like it was in slow motion. I tried to get up and saw the huge puddle of blood on the white carpet of the brand new house. He rolled me over and our eyes met. There was hate – anger, actually I saw fire. I opened my mouth to scream and I don’t know if anything came out.
So you moms/dads who love to cook but want quick meal’s so you can still have a good meal and not lose valuable quality family time. This information is for you or someone you know. You do not have to spend hours in your kitchen to have a healthy hearty meal for your family.

I just like the next mother/father love to cook and take care of my family. But that does not mean we have to spend hours in the kitchen. So the idea is to take meals you already make or come up with some new ones and figure out how to make them in the slow cooker and or prepare ahead of time. The idea is 30 minute meals (preparation time only; not the cooking process). This may take longer for some then others and that is ok but know that meal planning and planning ahead will save you not only money but lots of time. Both cooking, shopping and so on.

Also, a key to this taking 30 minutes to make a meal is to get the family to help with dinner. We try to get them as involved as possible in things around the house. I know this is about food but want to make sure I get the point across that kids learn from us in every aspect of the home. And it is paying off, not just in the kitchen. This last Saturday we (the whole family) cleaned the house in 1 hour. My 17 month old loves to help me with the laundry! I’m glad that my kids love helping and spending time as a family.

In a blink of an eye our kids grow up; we assume that our spouses will be here forever. But all this too will come to an end. So take EVERY MOMENT, treasure it and make the most of your times together. Please feel free to click below and down the "7 Meals-30 Minute Meal's".

So it’s 2012, we are almost a month into the New Year; what happened to January? How many you are already breaking those New Year’s Resolution’s?

Well, I for one did not make any per say; I have things I want to do in 2012, and with continued support from my family and God I plan to do so. One day at a time; and not stress over things that I do not get accomplished.

To start off the New Year I got a bad cold; what better time than to use the new juicer I got for Christmas. Both my kids love to help in this process. Now I did not have exactly what I needed so we made up our own recipe.

This month has just flown by and I feel like that not much has been accomplished; but I am reminded that what has gotten done is what is important. Time with God and my family; even though I have work stuff to do it will wait and the time will come.

I was reminded by a friend the other day of Joshua 1:9 “Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord they God is with three whither so ever thou goest.” I needed that as the last couple weeks I felt like forever step I took forward I was taking two back.

Sometimes as a stay at home mom I feel like at the end of the day or month I have nothing to show for it. Time seems to get away from me! But I continue to remember that no matter what it will all happen in GOD’S time not MINE.

While doing things for other throughout the year we need to also take care of ourselves. My goal is to exercise 2-4 times a week and be applying Essential Oils on a daily bases. We need to learn to live by example to our friends, family and clients.

Leaving you with this thought as we close out the end of the first month of 2012; what are you going to do for God, yourself, friends and business (home or otherwise) for the remaining 11 months of 2012?

Healthy Breakfast Choices: Home made-Greek Yogurt Parfait w/raspberries from freezer (we grew)
